Prudent Accountants was founded on a simple frustration: small businesses shouldn’t have to juggle four vendors to run their finances. For nearly two decades, we’ve been the one connected team that handles all of it, bookkeeping, payroll, CFO, and tax, for hundreds of businesses across Minnesota, Texas, and beyond.

When Prudent Accountants opened in the Twin Cities in 2007, the founding team saw the same pattern over and over: a small-business owner with a bookkeeper who didn’t talk to their payroll provider, a CPA who only showed up in April, and no one in the building thinking about what the numbers actually meant. Every vendor optimized for their own lane. None of them optimized for the business.
That fragmented model wasted money, missed opportunities, and left owners doing the integration work themselves. We thought there had to be a better way, so we built it: one firm, one point of contact, one connected team handling bookkeeping, payroll, tax, and CFO advisory as a single continuous conversation instead of four disconnected vendors.
Nineteen years later, we’ve served hundreds of small and mid-sized businesses across Minnesota and Texas, opened a second office in Dallas, and built a team that pairs local leadership with specialized talent around the world. Dozens of those clients have grown from kitchen-table operations into businesses that hire CFOs of their own. The frustration that started this firm hasn’t gone away in the wider market, but for the businesses we work with, we’ve made it disappear.

Hourly billing punishes the questions you most need to ask. We charge a flat monthly rate based on scope, so calling us never costs extra.
